How to Wash Windows

Steps

Gather tools and supplies.
Fill a bucket or dishpan full of water with a little dish soap.
Remove the window screens. To clean: lift them out of their tracks and rub them together under a running hose, rub them very gently with a rag or window wand, or brush them off. Why clean the screens? You'll remove some of the dust that the next rainstorm will knock onto your windows. You'll also get rid of that stale window screen smell.
If there are cobwebs around the windows, knock them off with a broom or webster.
If you are washing the outsides of windows and they are very dirty, begin by rinsing the heaviest dust off with a garden hose. Rinse only one window at a time, so that water spots don't dry on the windows.
If washing the inside of the window, put a clean towel or rag on the window sill to catch the drips.
Use a rag or window wand to wash the surface of the window.
Toss a clean towel or rag over your shoulder. Run the edge of the squeegee horizontally along the top of the window, to create a dry stripe. Wipe the squeegee dry on the towel after each stroke.
Finish drying the window with overlapping vertical strokes.
Use a dry rag to wipe up any drips. Use a damp sponge to clean the window frame and wipe out the window tracks.
